What has been the most unique experience or day you've had at IDC?

Presenting at Directions. It's a lot more than just going up on stage and talking through 15 – 20 slides in 35 minutes. The preparation, rehearsal, and delivery all take on a life of their own the closer we get to Directions, and everything gets magnified 100x when you're on the main stage. I'll say this much though: it's also one of the most thrilling experiences I've had.


If you had to describe IDC in three words, which would you choose?

I'm going to go with three phrases: Forward-thinking, Sound expertise, Insightful analysis.

Why did you decide to come to IDC?

Working at IDC was an easy choice for me. I was a summer intern with IDC’s IT Executive Program in 2014. I knew at that time that this was the company I wanted to work for after graduation. I love technology, problem solving, and being creative. It is wonderful to be at the intersection of all of these and work with so many smart and experienced people.


What do you enjoy most about working at IDC?

The work environment is outstanding. It is a workplace with high integrity. At the same time, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere encourages me to learn from people both in my team and outside my team. Each day brings new insights.

What has been the most unique experience or day you've had at IDC?

I had a speaking opportunity a few years ago to a government group in Brasilia, the Capital of Brazil. The way my flight was booked, I had to change planes in Manaus, a city known as “The Heart of the Amazon” that’s located right in the middle of the rain forest. When I found out that I’d be passing through there, I immediately arranged to take a couple of vacation days. So instead of changing planes immediately, I used the vacation time to book a boat trip that went several miles up the Amazon river, and had one of the best sidetrips I’ve ever taken during a business trip.
That's one of the nice things about working at IDC. We have to travel quite often, but flexible scheduling, generous vacation time, and the ability to leverage business travel in creative ways can make a trip more exciting and personally enjoyable.

What do you enjoy most about working at IDC?

There are many great things about working at IDC. First and foremost is the ability to learn something new. With the world of technology constantly changing, every day is a learning experience. I feel extremely fortunate to work with amazing people, both colleagues and IDC clients as well.


What is your favorite part of your job?

In this role, there are no two days that are exactly the same. Each day I am faced with a new challenge or opportunity to learn and grow from. That is the favorite part of my job, in addition to the wonderful clients and colleagues that I work with each day!

How would you describe IDC's culture?

IDC's culture is entrepreneurial and results-oriented, in that you have services that you are responsible for building and delivering to. In a larger sense, IDC is a fun place to work, with a lot of peer and team support, and many corporate services, such as training, that ensure that you continue to grow in your career. I have been very impressed with the training sessions I have taken, and plan on taking more advantage of these. I see a culture of fairness and respect with how employees are treated, which lets each employee focus on doing what we do best. I also like the communication up and down the organization so that employees feel valued and informed.


What is your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy being able to get up every day and tackle a new research challenge – researching, discovering, analyzing and writing about the new or unique insights that my clients need to be thinking about. The fact that you can do this any time of the day or night, wherever you are, just makes this job all the more exciting and satisfying.

I was lucky enough to be partnered with a wonderful mentor, and she continues to be a key part of my daily life at IDC, for guidance and as a sounding board for new ideas, even after 10+ years.
